I'm so depressed. I've been working so hard for the last 1.5 weeks to get rid off the clear text password for POP3 and SMTP auth in our internal network. But ...

... our company's head office (in US) wanted to take over the email services so that we have to send our POP3 password in the clear OVER THE INTERNET in order to check our emails.

Worst yet, they are going to replace our qmail/eudora setup with exchange/outlook pair which is so vulnerable to virus attack. When we questioned them about this, they're saying "if you are prepared and constantly aware, and if you have a properly informed user base, virus attacks can be kept to a minimum." OK, with so many if's, the virus attacks can only be kept minimum. Our current setup is immune to virus without us doing anything and without all those if's.

They are also saying, "While the common view is that Outlook is "not secure", it is a misconception." Gosh! Give me a break! Yeah right, it's a misconception, except Microsoft themselves were penetrated by those viruses.

Those bastards!
