Donations exceeding that required by Red Cross to respond to a specific Canadian disaster will be directed to the Canadian Disaster Relief Fund - a fund that provides support to people affected by future domestic disasters.

Donations exceeding that required by Red Cross to respond to a specific International disaster will be directed to the International Disaster Relief Fund - a fund that provides support to people affected by future international disasters.

Canadian Red Cross are working closely with Chinese Red Cross. Once Chinese Red Cross indicate that the funds raised in Canada exceed their needs, Canadian Red Cross will post message on the donation website letting donors aware of this. So It is pretty much ok to donate to Canadian Red Cross now. And they are also planning to change the message on their website to make it clear to the donors
